“A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit...Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.”

- Matthew 7:17,20

In this passage, Jesus warns us against false prophets, in particular those who look like "sheep" but are truly "vicious wolves". He guides us by using a tree and its fruits as an example. "A good tree does not produce bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot produce good fruit." Observe the actions of others to know where their true nature lies. Walk away from these bad trees, and remove them from our lives.

In the same token, let us cultivate ourselves such that we can be good trees that bear good fruits. Actions speak louder than words. It is by our actions that we can show our love for others, to demonstrate God's will, and to share the Good News through our faith.

Reflection: Contemplate on your actions. Are they signs of good fruit? Pray to God to help grow you in Christ such that you can be a good tree that bears good fruit.
